Wherever you live, your community is located in one of Canada's 17 vast drainage basins. This map helps you identify the name and size of the basin in which you live. The freshwater that flows near your home ultimately drains into one of Canada's three oceans – the Arctic, Atlantic, or Pacific. By simply rolling your cursor in the general area of your community, you will discover the direction in which the water from your area flows as it meanders toward the ocean.

Note: This effect may not work in all versions of all browsers. If the effect is not visible when you roll your cursor over the map, click here for a static map that shows the direction in which water in the various basins flows toward the ocean.
