Create a Marine or Ocean Hallway Display
Grade level: Any
Group size: Any
Duration: Minimum three hours over several days
Location: School hallway
Materials: Common art materials
Summary
In this simple and engaging activity, students plan, prepare, and present a hallway display on a theme related to special marine places at school. They may also bring the display and its messages to the attention of other Canadians through the CWF Web site and other media.
Procedure
Follow these five easy steps to create a spectacular, themed hallway display.
- Choose your specific theme to match your grade level, curriculum focus, and interest.
- Decide on a display style, be it a collage, a story with a message, a 3-D model, or a unified mural.
- Have each student, or small groups of students, research and illustrate parts of the display. They can research it through the library or the Web sites listed on the Great Resources for a Great Display section of this guide.
- Have students assemble their hallway display.
- Share and celebrate by connecting with other classes, other schools in your watershed, the community, and (through the CWF Web site) the rest of Canada.
Evaluation Tips
Evaluate students on their clarity, creativity, and the integration of their visual messages with the theme. |
